Tourists get a shot at marketing Dundee

Budding photographers among this summer’s visitors to Dundee are being invited to share their shots of the city online—to attract new visitors on short breaks.

A new section on VisitScotland’s city breaks site will show potential visitors the huge variety of things to see and do in Dundee—along with Scotland’s other five cities—as photographed by this year’s visitors.

Visitors to the site can upload their own images, rate other people’s snaps and leave comments and holiday suggestions.

There will be quarterly prizes for the photos, and those with the highest ratings could win a camera and the chance to assist on a photo shoot with a professional photographer.

A different theme will be selected quarterly to inspire photographers. The first will focus on events and festivals.

Vicki Miller, local area director said: “Encouraging people to put their snaps online for all to see is a great way to get people everywhere talking about Scotland and to show them it’s a must visit, must return destination.

“This will create an excellent opportunity for Angus & Dundee to build a photo gallery that will highlight and showcase exactly what the area has to offer visitors to the city and surrounding area. The idea is to leave visitors feeling there is always more to do and hopefully we will see visitors coming back again and again.”
