Dine Around East of Scotland was a joint initiative between the Sector Development Department and the Fife, Perthshire and Angus & Dundee network offices. Building on the successes of previous promotions, the aim was to introduce the Dine Around concept to a new area of the country and engage with the restaurant community and local foodies.
This VisitScotland-led promotion is designed to take advantage of growing consumer interest in cuisine and to raise awareness of the excellence and variety of Scottish dining experiences. It involves a network of restaurant promotions across Scotland where the aims are to provide a great meal and exceptional value at a fixed price and deliver incremental business to restaurants during off-peak periods of the year.
Some key figures include:
- A total of 45 restaurants participated, generating 1,037 direct sales equating to an average of 3.8 promotional covers per restaurant per week
- Online bookings generated an additional 115 covers
- Total recorded sales = 1,152 covers, with an average of 25.6 covers per restaurant over the course of the promotion
- 12 restaurants (Altamount, Restaurant 47, Apex Metro, Capercaillie, Playfairs, Fishermans Tavern, Dundee Hilton, Ristorante Alberto, Harvey McGuires, Alexanders, Dinner at the Pier and Cardoon) exceeded this average.
Of the three regions, 461 covers came from participating restaurants in Fife, 322 from Perthshire and 254 from Angus & Dundee.
