Business leaders welcome new-look West Park Conference Centre
Business leaders and senior academic staff from across Tayside have welcomed the opening of the newly refurbished West Park Conference Centre at a special charity dinner.
The conference centre has undergone a £6.5m redevelopment and refurbishment project which was overseen by Sanctuary Management Services (SMS) on behalf of Dundee Student Villages (DSV). The centre will prove a major asset in the city of Dundee’s stated aims of attracting increased business tourism to the Tayside region. The centre will attract conference delegates from over the world – ITiSCE (Innovation and Technology In Computer Science Education) and SpaceWire International Conference.
The refurbishment project includes a transformation of the interior of one of Dundee’s most beautiful buildings, the West Park Victorian Italianate villa, a newly restyled restaurant facility, an upgraded boardroom, 300 delegate auditorium and a further 15 meeting rooms equipped with the cutting-edge AV equipment.
A key feature of the development programme has been the construction of new accommodation space comprising an additional 44 ensuite bedrooms complementing the existing 160 ensuite villa bedrooms. Rooms which are not let to students will be available for use by visiting academics, conference delegates and individuals.
Caroline Rankin, Business Development Manager, West Park, said: “As well as providing a platform from which to showcase our new facilities, this relaunch clearly marks the beginning of West Park’s vision to be recognised as The Definitive Conference and Special Events Supplier of Choice Throughout Tayside”.
