Torrance to tee off major Angus and Dundee promotion

Sam Torrance has visited Carnoustie, the home of the Open Championship 2007, to raise awareness of the 2006 VisitScotland Sam Torrance Cup.

Twelve lucky winners from throughout the UK and Ireland, plus their playing partner, will be given the once in a lifetime opportunity to play golf with the current European Senior Tour Order of Merit winner.

The first major promotion of what is hoped to be a fantastic tourism season for Angus & Dundee has taken place at Camperdown Park with the successful Radio 1 One Big Weekend. Travel writers from across Britain have been participating in familiarisation trips, organised by VisitScotland Angus & Dundee, and taking in locations across the city and surrounding area during the musical extravaganza. It is expected the anticipated knock on effects for the area will be substantial.

Events organised to further raise the profile of the tourism product within the area include a garden themed event that will raise the profile of the many gardens in Fife and Angus & Dundee, this market becoming increasingly more popular with visitors. Golf will also be predominate in the coming months, not least with the build up to Carnoustie, but also a number of international journalists being shown the highlights of golf in Angus & Dundee.
