The health benefits of a day out in the hills are being highlighted as part of this year’s Angus Glens Walking Festival.
The popular event is supported by Angus Council and new for 2006, will be the partnership involvement of NHS Tayside, emphasising the important health benefits of walking as a form of exercise. The dates set for the four-day festival in Kirriemuir and the Angus Glens are Thursday 1 June to Sunday 4 June.
The festival has run successfully over the past three years attracting 989 individual walkers over this period, generating an estimated £121,000 to the local economy.
The festival organisers have made it even easier to get started by grading the full range of walks available.
Those new to walking are encouraged to look in the programme for ‘moderate’, ‘easy’or ‘all abilities’ categories of walks.
All the walks are accompanied by experienced countryside rangers and mountain leaders who are experienced and know the area well.
