Dean’s of Huntly recently took a step in a new direction by opening the nation’s first visitor attraction dedicated to our national biscuit. The company has grown to become the No.1 Scottish retail brand of shortbread, employing more than 140 people and has a turnover approaching £7million – with ambitious plans for future growth.
The café/bistro, visitor centre and shop were officially opened in November with Huntly Pipe Band joining dozens of guests to celebrate the landmark move. Managing Director, Bill Dean, said: “We are currently producing our shortbread 24-hours a day and visitors will get the chance to find about its history, our company history and see how our national delicacy is made. More importantly, the café and bistro will then give them the chance to sample it, without having to wait.’’
