Singer/Songwriter Sandi Thom will be opening the inaugural COAST Festival of the Visual Arts taking place in Banff and Macduff over the bank holiday weekend 23 to 26 May this year.

Amongst the many events and attractions, recently confirmed participatory workshops taking place over the festival weekend include:

  • abstract interpretation painting,
  • model making pottery,
  • felt making,
  • graffiti art,
  • Children’s art,
  • fly cup design,
  • sandcastle and sand sculpture building.

All workshops are led by local artists and groups and there is something for everyone; all age groups, from absolute beginner through to the more experienced. All materials are provided and all activity is completely free of charge.

The event in 2008 will feature exhibitions, an affordable art market, a food fair, music events, demonstrations, talks and participatory workshops for all age ranges.

The activities are a combination of drop-in workshops where no booking is necessary and structured workshops where places are limited and need to be reserved in advance.
