Aberdeen City and Shire events win funding

EventScotland, the national events agency, has announced that three events in Aberdeen City and Shire have been successful through the latest round of its Regional Events Programme.

The events, which will share a funding award totalling £29,000 are the festival of new music sound, the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and the North-East's biggest open doors art festival the North East Open Studios (NEOS).

Jacky Niven from North East Open Studies commented:
"We are thrilled that thanks to EventScotland we have the opportunity to promote our NEOS event to a wider audience and encourage more visitors to experience the wealth of creative talent the North East of Scotland has to offer."

EventScotland’s Regional Events Programme supports the development of sporting and cultural events and festivals taking place outside the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and to date has supported more than 150 events across the country, investing almost £2million through nine rounds of its regional events funding programme.

The next deadline for applications to the programme is August 1, 2008 –for more information visit
