New Tourism Chief Appointed for Aberdeen City and Shire

Former Managing Director of Northsound Radio, Ken Massie, has been appointed as VisitScotland’s new Regional Director for Grampian.

Prior to working at Northsound, Ken was Business Services Director with Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce where he worked for six years. He has several years experience in a range of senior management roles within the radio, multimedia and service sectors, and in his new role is tasked with managing strategic relations with key partners to drive tourism growth across the region, which comprises the two local authority areas of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

Having been responsible for performance management at strategic and operational levels during periods of organisational change in his previous roles, Ken has considerable experience of partnership working and relationship management.

According to the Chief Executive of VisitScotland, Philip Riddle, Ken’s strengths in management and his ability to motivate staff and develop strong business relationships will stand him in good stead for his new role in the tourism industry.

Ken has taken over from previous Area Director, Ian Dunlop, who worked for the Aberdeen and Grampian Tourist Board and the newly-formed VisitScotland, until June this year.
