Fyvie Festival joins Homecoming celebrations

The historic village of Fyvie, in Aberdeenshire, has announced ambitious plans for a “Fyvie Homecoming Festival" to take place from 28-30 August next year.

The Festival is being organised as part of Homecoming Scotland 2009, which aims to encourage expatriate Scots, people with links to Scotland, and those who just love the country, to visit Scotland and enjoy an exceptional year of festivities. The “Fyvie Homecoming Festival” is therefore aimed at people from all over the world who have links with the Fyvie and the surrounding area.

The Fyvie Homecoming Festival was the idea of local businesswoman, Anne Iravani, and has the support of a wide number of local organisations, groups and individuals, particularly Fyvie Amenities Committee, and Fyvie Folk Club which has agreed to incorporate its annual Folk Festival into the event.

A draft programme for the Festival is already available on the website www.fyviehomecoming.com and further details will be added as they become available. Tickets for the individual events, such as the folk concert, tea dance, ballad bus tour and ceilidh, will all be available for purchase via the website.
